Student's Pass and arrival in Singapore: what housing teams need to know

Begin with the school, not the accommodation form

ICA states that a foreign student accepted for full-time study generally needs a Student's Pass unless a listed exemption applies. Procedures differ across approved private education institutions, institutes of higher learning and other school types.

Use the institution type and instructions supplied by the school. Housing dates should follow the reporting and arrival timeline rather than guess it.

Read the IPA letter as the live checklist

When an application is approved, ICA issues an In-Principle Approval letter. The letter and school instructions identify the documents, arrival conditions and formalities that apply to that student.

Students must be in Singapore on a valid immigration pass to complete Student's Pass formalities. Some schools arrange offsite enrolment; otherwise an ICA appointment may be required.

Give the housing manager dates, not sensitive documents

For room matching, Fuhua needs the school, expected move-in date, budget, gender, room type and intended stay length. The public application does not request a passport number, FIN, signature or uploaded identity file.

If a landlord or authorised professional later needs identity evidence for a lawful transaction, use the verified secure channel they specify and confirm why the document is required.
